Who we are

xdlab is a Delhi based company that has roots both in India as well as Italy.

We are 3 partners, 3 long term collaborators, and an extended and trusted network of engineers, software developers, anthropologists, experiential marketing experts, graphic designers, video directors and editors, mainly in Europe and India, and also in USA.

xdlab was founded in March 2007. Since then we have been working for clients such as Simple Tv and Network Comunicazione for Alixir-Barilla, Nokia India, Telecom Italia, the Indian Government, and collaborating with designers such as Rajeev Sethi.

Furthermore xdlab had started relations with 8 universities, such as NIFT, presented at one of India’s noted design event Pune Design Festival, held three workshops among which one at Doors of Perception
.

Two of xdlab’s founder members,
Anurag Sehgal (India) and Giovanni Cannata (Italy), are also founding members of the Interaction Design Lab, an Italian design firm that in one year of activities has been awarded the ‘Top most innovative creative firm in Milan’ from the Chamber of Commerce of Milan and the Provincia di Milano that is also been indexed for the Compasso D’Oro 2007 award.

The third founder member, Mustafa Siddiqui, chief technologist of this company, has been responsible for co-ordinating and engineering projects such as ‘Crossing Project’, for Xerox Park, and the interactive museum 'Eternal Gandhi', developed and designed by Sacredworld research labs, Delhi, for one of India’s biggest industrialist family, Birlas.

 
Giovanni Cannata

Giovanni Cannata received an MA in Industrial Design at Milan’s Polytechnic, studying also at Konstfack University (Stockholm, Sweden) and at Hochschule für Gestaltung of Schwäbisch Gmünd (Germany).

His education experience includes collaborations with Philips Design (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) and STEIM (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) at music devices development and innovation. He graduated with an MA in interaction design at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in 2005.

Giovanni progressed to working at Interaction Design Institute Ivrea’s project department (e1) project leading Genova Festival della Scienza 2005 edition, Interactive Furniture Workshop (Switzerland), and collaborated for Next 2004 and 2005.

He also co founded Interaction Design lab, an established Italian interaction design company with offices in Milan and Turin, where he collaborated to the start-up process as well as where he project led a series of projects.

Puneet Monga

Puneet Monga is an architect with a keen interest in researching user-technology interaction. For over a decade, since his undergraduate education at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, he has been engaged in developing innovative and pleasant user interaction solutions, content and software. He has also briefly undertaken teaching assignments for multi-media authoring at NIFT, New Delhi.

He was the principal software developer of the interactive components for the internationally acclaimed 'Crossing Exhibit' and was also responsible for creating graphic interfaces and content of some key exhibits. The Crossing Project received many accolades in the field of Interaction Design world-wide.

Formerly, as the Creative Head at Via, Puneet was responsible for the development of cutting-edge multimedia content. This included a pioneering cross-platform interactive virtual tour of Buddhist and World Heritage Sites of India, under the Incredible India campaign, which was a PATA award winning entry in 2007.

Andrea Romoli

Andrea graduated in Science of Communication with a thesis about the anthropology of visual communication analyzed through new forms of fetishism contained in modern visual art.

He worked as an associate Professor at the department of Theories and Techniques of Advertising Communication at University "La Sapienza" in Rome, where he also realized "Armadillo", a website about contemporary advertising.

Andrea has worked at LAB-COM a Cultural Association a Permanent Laboratory of Communication, and has been an editor at the Communication department of Fondimpresa.

Anurag Sehgal

Anurag completed his masters in interaction design from the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in 2005. He also has an under-graduation in Fashion Design from the National institute of Fashion Technology in India, where he worked with graduated with a thesis in wearable electronics.

Before the masters program in Ivrea Anurag collaborated with Xerox PARC for “The Crossing Project”, a worldwide famous research project that had set up the basis for various innovations and new interfaces. During his masters program he also worked on the wearable system and head mounted display called ‘Eye Tap’ with Professor Steve Mann at Toronto University, in Canada.

After receiving his MA in interaction he started collaborating with Interaction Design Institute Ivrea’s e1, working on projects such as “Genova Festival della Scienza”, “Interactive Furniture & Workshop”(Switzerland), “Next 2005” and “Video tracking workshop (Italy).

He is also a co founder of Interaction Design lab, with offices in Milan and Turin, where he collaborated to the start-up process as well as worked as interaction designer and researcher.

Mustafa Siddiqui

Mustafa is a technologist with computer science and electronic engineering background.

He has been the responsible for the engineering and implementation of the multimedia museum Eternal Gandhi in Delhi. This museum it represents one of the most important examples of interactive museums in the world.

Mustafa has led projects at Xerox PARC, where he has been one of Crossing Project’s main participators, a project that has been awarded as ‘the most innovative project in the interaction design field of year 2002’ from Interactive Media Design Award of Prix Electronica and the Gold Award of I.D. Magazine.
